MAX WINS 13 th on his way to another CY YOUNG?

Will MAX SCHERZER win a second straight AL CY YOUNG Award? He has my vote.
He is down right nasty on that pitcher’s mound. Last night he won his 13th
striking out six while allowing just a few hits for another Quality Start. If
you look at the calendar he has about 12 more starts to win 7 to slide in to the coveted twenty victory slot. .

The Tigers once more scored a bunch of runs for Max and their 58th victory.
46. It kept them five games over the Royals. They scored SIX in the first and
sent 11 men to the plate. RICK CASTELLANOS banged out a three run homer to the opposite field. Later he hit a run scoring single which gave the rookie four R.B.I’S for the night. TORII HUNTER had three hits to join in the fun.

As MAX continues to shine it looks more and more like he will break the bank as he becomes a free agent during the coming off season. MIKE ILITCH will have
sell a lotta’ pizzas to keep MAX in a Tiger’s uniform. However, if I know Mike he will do his best to keep this little-big guy with two different collored eyes in Detroit. That means that VMART will go for the big bucks to
play elsehere. And here we sit with our need for left handed sticks. Please
stay with us VICTOR MARTINEZ….

THIS, THAT and THE NEXT THING…..

T.T.& T. T. Take note! DOUG FISTER won his TENTH yesterday! This from a guy
who was on the D.L. for the first month ! ! The NL Cy YOUNG ???

Young Mr. RICK PORCELLLO should have FOURTEEN VICTORIES!! His team left him down. MLB Network is missing a big story right in front of their Keesters…
.
We need left handed bats…our left handed hitters presently are : KELLY, AVILA, DIRKS (presently on D.L. ) and switch hitting VMART. The only real MLB
threat is VICTOR. As I write this I’m amazed…this is a glaring weakness.
IT MUST BE CORRECTED BEFORE THE POST SEASON BEGINS.

Arby’s hang your heads….They crow big time that if the TIGERS hit three Taters (folks do you know how often that actually happens?) they will present
us each with a teeny tiny bag of curly frieS! wow! are you kidding me. And, by the way YOU MUST HAVE PROOF to get your teeny tiny bag of curly fries.HA HA.

Keeping PHIL COKE on the payroll???? Now I know what WISHFUL THINKING means.

Ever since MIGGIE won the triple crown TIGER fans have talked about his
chances of repeating….personally I even wrote about it being possible. He
was still young and had that rare combination of being both a spray and poswer
hitter combined which is a MUST to win the HOMERUN AND the BATTING titles. Now
we must forget it. The Tigers are quiet about this but the truth is MIGGIE
has lost his pop ! His long fly balls are seldom reaching the seats. Out-
fielders are now catching them….I say that he’s still hurting. Last Fall
he was hurt more than he admits. My prediction: He will go under the knife
once more…and then MAYBE another TRIPLE CROWN will become a reality.

by bobby on 7-29-14 “One year older and deeper in debt” It’s not funny…

7 game road trip 6 quality starts only 2 wins !

What is a MLB Quality start?
A pitcher must pitch SIX COMPLETE INNINGS ALLOWING LESS THAN 3 ER…+
On JULY 21 JV qualifies and TIGERS win 4-3 over Diamondbacks
On July 22 PORCELLO< qualifies and TIGERS lose 5-4 when COKE blows it.
On JULY 23 SANCHEZ does not qualify but TIGERS win anyway 11-5
On JULY 24 SCHERZER qualifies and TIGERS beat Angels 6-4.
On JULY 25 SMYLY qualifies but TIGERS lose heartbreaker 2-1..
On July 26 JV qualifies but TIGERS lose 4-0
On JULY 27 PORCELLO qualifies but TIGERS lose another heartbreaker 2-1

Bottom lines:
RICK PORCELLO sues TIGERS offense for costing him and the TIGDERS TWO games ;
TIGERS need another left handed bat (where are you ANDY DIRKS?);
Why are the TIGERS still carrying PHIL COKE? ;
TIGERS are still in first by 5 big games;
The great center fielder of Angels hitting .001 against Tigers;
Is this the guy west coast writers and MLB network already ballyhooing for MVP?
MIGUEL CABRERA needs a wakeup call;
AND LASTLY….HERE COME THE WHITE SOX!

MAX CHALKS UP #12 in 6-4 WIN OVER ANGELS

MAX SCHERZER notched his 12th victory as the Tigers came from behind to win
it’s 57th victory and go up SEVEN games over KC . At the beginning MAX was
unhittable…settinmg down the halo’s 1-2-3 for the first three frames and going on to strike out ELEVEN. MAX reliishes whiffing Mike Trout, whom west
coast Sports Writers hail as the next COBB/RUTH/GREENBERG and, well MAX was back at it. He struck out the kid twice running his string to SIX (MAX K’D him
4 times in a row earlier at the COPA). Finally, he hit a weak grounder his 3rd
time up. SCHERZER allowed just 3 hits and only ONE EARNED RUN running his ERA
to 3.37.

The offense was handled nicely by AUSTIN JACKSON going 2 for 5 and running his
multiple hit streak to ten games! Stop it soon AUSTIN or our TV guys will end
up on the Funny Farm ! NICK CASTELLANOS banged out 2 for 4 including a two run
double which turned out to be the winning runs ! Our boy, EUGENIO SAUREZ was
2 tor 3 hitting ahead of DAVIS in the eight hole.

Now for some great news out of the bull pen….JOE NATHAN came out of his
second home in the 9th to save his 21st game while striking out the dangerous
Howie KENDRCK swinging at a 1-2 pitch. Then came DAVID FREESE, he of Cardi-
nal World Series clutch hitting fame. Never mind, JOE put him away too, swinging
also at a 1-2 pitch and missing. Not to be out done Rookie Cron did the same
thing, that is swinging and missing a 1-2 pitch. NICE GOIN’ JOE ! !!

TIGERS GO 6.5 GAMES UP ON INDIANS

The Tigers went 6.5 games up in the AL CENTRAL DIVISION as they defeated KIRK
GIBSON’S Diamondbacks 11-5. ANABAL SANCHAZ picked the victory going .6./2
innings but allowed 13 hits and all 5 earned runs as his ERA went up to 3.45.
For the second game in a row ANABAL ran into trouble in the 5th inning giving
up all five runs which led Manager BRAD AUSMUS to say: “He has to correct that
nasty habit. We won’t be scoring 11 runs every time he pitches.”

But they did yesterday with the speedy RAJI DAVIS banginmg 3 for 5 as he looked good hitting in the 2nd spot. Leading off the red hot A.J. went 2 for
3 bringing his slow rising BA up to .270. Meanwhile big MIGGIE went 2 for 4
driving in 3 including a long tater. His BA is a healthy .315. It wouldn’t
surprise this writer to see him take the hitting title again along with the RBI
championship. However, the Home Run leadership is his sore spot. We believe last year’s injury is still hurting him along with the park he plays in. Comerica is not good to homerun hitters.

Tonite they face another tough four game series in Annahiem, California, home of the Angels. MAx will seek his 12th win as he once more shoots for 20 big ones !

TIGERS BEAT KIRK’S BOYS IN A HEART THROBBER…

WHOOEY, don’t look now but the 8th & 9th inning tandem of JOBA CHAMBERLAIN
and JOE NATHAN happily clicked for two nites in a row setting down the DIAMOND
BACKS in a 4-3 Tiger Victory. They did the same thing on Sunday to the Indians’
Also, for the second day in a row TORII HUNTER contiued to celebrate his birthday by hitting another two run shot into the left field seats for his
14th of the year. And A.J. continues to shine in the leadoff spot with another
two hit performance including a homerun.

Meanwhile DOUG FISTER continues to shine for the Nats notching his ninth win
of the season running his record to 9-2 . We will not pick on DAVE DOMBROWSKI
who sent PRINCE FIELDER packing for IAN KINSLER…talk about fleecings the
Rangers were FLEECED BIG TIME ON THIS ONE….

by bobby on 7-22-14

NOT THIS TIME !

DREW SMYLY beat the Tribe by pitchingh a four hit, 5-1 victory and thus avoiding a four game sweep by the Indians FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY.
WOW….I didn’t know that, did you? DREW went 7.0 innings throwing 103 pitches
with 65 strikes while whiffing six and maintaining a very nice 3.80 ERA. JOBA
CHAIMBERLIN threw a scoreless eigth inning for the 13th TIME IN HIS LAST 14…
TORII HUNTER hit a hanging curve into the left field seats for a two run shot
while AUSTIN JACKSON continued to bomb Cleveland pitching with two more hits.

Meanwhile, SMYLY, a Southpaw, continued to face a WEAKENED right handed hitting
lineup. We pointed this out yesterday and so did the TV aznnouncers. This obvious Tribe weakness has to be corrected by them if they want to remain serious AL Central Division Contenders. On the other hand, Detroit, with it’s
one left handed starter, will have to face that left handed hitting power house
for the rest of the season…help! Do we have any Southpaw help in Toledo?
Erie? W. Michigan Whitecaps?

Tonite we face KIRK GIBSON’S Diamond Backs way down there in rattle snake
infested Arizona….careful where you step boys. Justin Verlander goes for
us with his corrected arm slot ??

To show you how important that victory was yesterday…if they had been
swept Cleveland would have been just 3.5 games back. But, by winning we
pushed them back to 5.5 a two game swing! Thank you MR. SMYLY>

injected by bobby. MIKE ILITCH CELEBRATED his 85th yesterday…I do it
in one week….I can hardly wait…..

GOING, GOING…..GONE.

Will their 7.5 lead over the Indians be completely gone soon The team from
across the lake has won three in a row and have absolutely throttled the Tigers
in every aspect of the game while whittling down Detroit’s lead from 7.5 games
to 4,5 as of today. To me, the Tribe looks hungry for some scalps and before the sun sets our lead might be down to 3.5 games. But the Indians have a glaring weakness…GOOD SOUTHPAW PITCHING will put them down! They are loaded
with left handed hitters. It will be interesting to see how the Tiger’s lone
left handed starter, DREW SMYLY, will do against them today. Meanwhile what was the Tiger’s brain trust thinking when they called up a right handed kid to go against these left handed bullies? It was just a matter of time!

We have to hit better and our bull pen needs to learn how to pitch under stress
or it will absolutely, GOING….GOING…..GONE WITH THE WIND. !

Yesterday I forgot DOUG FISTER…

Forgetting DOUG FISTER yesterday from my list of former Tigers now in the
N.L. could have been a mental slip on my part, however, it could have been
much deeper than that…Ever since the deal went down I’ve been in the how-
the-hell-did-this-happen category? After starting the year on the D.L. for
the Nats, Doug has come out blasting away with his high hard one and winning
eight big ones for Washington. What will the big guy do in the second half?
He has a history of strong finishes, so I would not doubt it one bit if DOUG
FISTER doesn’t carry D.C. right into the World Series! This deal could turn
out to be DAVE DOMBROWSKI’S worst nitemare, especialy if he beats us in the
Series….it could happen.

ALL STAR GAME LEFT OVERS…..Well the west coast writers finally zapped MIGGIE. The big guy hit one out driving in two while scorching a line drive
his other at bat plus playing flawlessy at First Base. How could he not be the
MVP of the winning team?
And our MAX getting the victory !!
MAX is ready for the second half. That said the Tigers with their THREE BIG
ACES, MAX, SANCHEZ and PORCELLO will be a shoo-in. SMYLY could have us all
SMYLING before this thing is over. On that pleasant thought, ADIOS.

FORMER TIGERS EVEN IN THE N.L.

JOAQUIN, JOAQUIN, Please come out wherever you are….SAN DIEGO !We had you
with the Twins in breezy Minnesota, but you wanted that sunny, hot southern
California..so you got it. But, how about those standings, JOAQUIN?? Ahem the
Tigers are in 1st place compared to the PADS? Oh there they are IN FIRST TOO,
WHEN I TURN THE PAPER UPSIDE DOWN…..enjoy those rays JOAQUIN.

Say hello to CAMERON MAYBIN, also down their with you in the land of
PADS…only CAMERON switched the rays of Miami, Florida, for Diego Rays. WOW,
you ISLAND guys sure do love that “LUCKY OLD SUN” Yes?
And, then there’s JOHHNY PERALTA who chose the Cardinals over the Cubs. J guess JOHHNY chose winning over tradition. JOHHNY< who insists on spelling his
name with two "H's" says that with the Cards he gets both, WINNING & TRADITION!
See you in October, JOHHNY.
GERALD LAIRD is still with the BRAVES...only tell us , GERALD< what are your
duties as the "4th" C.as you are listed on the Braves 40 man roster.?
Then, there's good old CURTIS GRANDERSON trying to figure out why he can't hit
a hundred homers with the METS like he did with the Yankees in their match-
box ball park?
ED JACKSON now with the CUBBIES is trying to figure out why everyone is now cal-
ling him "Suitcase" instead of EDWIN? Good luck SUITCASE (now with his 31st
club in the 30 team MLB).
ARAMIS RAMIREZ is still looking for his big break trying to replace the de-
parted PRINCE FIELDER with the MILWAUKEE BEER DRINKERS. Carefull ARAMIS,
you might end up back in COMERICA PARK, where it all started for you. And
where you ate all that free pizza.

Today's big question for all you smart guys (you too TIM) What do we do with
our two millionaires, MIGGIE & JV, to help them earn MIKE'S greenbacks> At
least the first million. ?? C’mon give it a try.
