Phil Coke said after the Tigers just fell in a World Series SWEEP to the Giants: “Don’t think
we won’t be back.” AND, THEY WILL BE! Here’s why:
In 1934 they were heart-broken after the Cardinals beat them in the World Series.
However, in 1935 they came back to win the Series from the Cubs!
In 1944 they lost out on the last day of the year to the St. Louis Browns.
However, in 1945 they came back to once more beat the Cubs to win the 1945 World Series!
In 1967 they lost out on the last day as the Red Sox won the AL Pennant.
However, the next year in 1968 they once more came back to win the Series from the Cards!
In 1983 they once more lost out in the closing days of the season to the Orioles.
However, in 1984 they once more did their thing and beat the Padres for the 1984 World Series.
Did all of this happen…look it up. IT HAPPENED…
In 2012 the Tigers lost the World Series to the old New York Giants.
S o g u e s s w h a t ? ? They will absolutely win it all in 2013 !!! History says so!
Victor Martinez will reclaim his DH spot to give the Tigers the best 3, 4, 5 and maybe 6 hitters in
all of baseball in Cabrera, Fielder, Martinez and perhaps Young in the six hole. The reason I’m
changing my position on Young is that he could play in LF on days Victor is DHing and DH on days Mar-
tinez is relieving Avila behind the plate. Either way they will be powerful in the 3,4 and 5 spots!
Their trouble spot at second base is history. Omar Infante is our guy for years to come. He gives
a great glove and an average bat at second with Santiago spelling him and Peralta now and then. The
outfield is set with Dirks, Jackson, Garcia, Young(?) and Berry roaming the outer banks.
The starters will be back…Mike Ilitch will see to that. Verlander, Scherzer, Fister, Sanchez and
Smyly will give them the best starting rotation in the American League. There will be huge changes
out in the Bull Pen. The only untouchables out there will probably be Coke and Albuequerque.
Well, there you have it…Have I convinced you with our History lesson? When the snows of the coming winter of 2012/2013 start to blow and snarl…think about next year’s Tigers…Meanwhile the WBWF
will keep you posted. The end.
