THE TIGER’S DEPTH IS SHOWING BIG TIME!

The Oakland A’s are saying today, besides of course complaining about the umpires and
kisses, “WHO JUST BEAT US?” DON KELLY? Who the hell is he? Well, besides being placed
on waivers early in the season, and NOT BEING CLAIMED BY ANYONE, he is one of JIM LEYLAND’S
boys. The skipper loves him and personally went to the G.M., DAVE DOMBROWSKI, to bring him
back. DOMBROSKI did and they liked him so much they even placed him on their playoff roster.
And there you have it. That’s DON KELLY, who delivered the sacrifice fly heard ’round the
world and scored OMAR INFANTE from third base with the winning run to put the Tigers up 2-0 in
this five game series. Did you notice LEYLAND’S celebration hug of KELLY? It was extra long
and extra hard.
And the A’s are asking about the kid in right field? AVISAIL GARCIA?? He uncorked the throw
from medium deep right field to catcher, GERALD LAIRD, to nail the speedy and slightly hot
doggish, Coco Crisp, at the plate. Folks are calling GARCIA a clone of MIGUEL CABRERA. WOW!
There certainly is a resemblance. He’s young, just 21, and he’s big and possesses all of the
five tools for greatness. The Tigers brought him up late in the season and in 33 plate appear-
ances he hit .333. The USA SPORTS WEEKLY” had this to say: “For the last two seasons he has played
in the shadow of the much publicised, NICK COSTELLANOS, maybe no more.” The young AVISAIL is
about to bloom…WBWF predicts the following outfield for the Tigers of the future: JACKSON,
DIRKS and GARCIA.
And, then of course the A’s are wondering about the young kissable, AL ALBURQUERQUE. Who’s he?
He’s JIM LEYLAND’S secret weapon out of the bull pen. Last year this kid made the roster coming
out of Spring Training and he became a big hit for both LEYLAND and the fans. His fast ball
will toy around with 100mph! And, then came his nasty injury. He was quickly forgotten. Out
of sight out of mind. He was really out long. Over a year! He has come off of the DL very
silently just lately. On Sunday, 10-7-12, he was brought in to face a fellow Latino, YOENIS
CESPEDES, with two out and the go ahead run on third. Every Tiger fan took a position right at
the edge of their seats. For two nerve racking pitches AL toyed with YOENIS and then he threw
his heater and YOENIS weakly grounded back at him. While running the ball over to FIELDER HE
KISSED THE BALL! And all hell broke loose from the so-called playfull Oakland A’s. They
promise revenge and all sorts of bull crap. We say P H O O E Y ! But there you have it.
A STAR HAS BEEN BORN AND HIS NAME ? AL ALBUERQUERQUE !!

  1. Hey Bobby: You and I have been long enough to expect the unexpected when it comes to post season play. The core players, Jackson, Cabrera, Fielder, Verlander, Scherzer,Fister, got us here but history tells us that an unlikely hero or two will make the hit or pitch the game that brings the World Series trophy back to Detroit. It could well be Garcia, Kelly or Sanchez!
