SCOTT SIZEMORE FROM CHESAPEAKE, PART II

written by bobby hoeft II, owner & manager of the “GRAND SLAM HITTING CAGES” in CHESAPEAKE, VA.

“His father TERRY was his coach for many years while SCOTT played summer travel ball.
SCOTT would do his best to live up to his father’s expectations but even more so try
to fill the huge shoes of his big brother CRAIG who was a flat out star in High School and
College. I asked SCOTT if he was a better hitter than CRAIG. He admitted that he may
be a better long ball hitter than CRAIG but not sure his big bro would agree.

The admiration that SCOTT has for his father was quite evident when I asked him who
the most influential coach was for him. With no hesitation he said it was his father. He
immediately stated how grateful he was for his father never saying no and playing catch
with him and hitting him ground balls whenever he would request it. This is how SCOTT
learned how to work. Many people think that players just wake up one day and POOOF
they are a MLB player and/or a great athlete. Not in the case of the boys from Chesapeake.
If you could only see how they work. I would be in a cage doing lessons as Little
Scott would be hitting in another cage. WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! is all I could hear. I
would almost have to yell in order for my hitting student to hear me. SCOTT would be all
by himself hitting off a tee and working his butt off. Not just once in awhile, but almost
every single night. Even during the season after games or practice. The best part about
it never once did he leave without finding me to say thank you for letting him hit. His
parents raised him right. He is still humble and grounded to this day.”

PART III of this illuminating story into SCOTT SIZEMORE’S exclusive story for WBWF
will be printed tomorrow (5-7-10).
