It should be pointed out that our son BOBBY HOEFT II is a very close friend of SCOTT SIZEMORE down in
Chesapeake, Virginia. BOBBY owns and operates the GRAND SLAM BATTING CAGES where they first met many
years ago when SCOTT was knee-high-to-a-grasshopper. Here’s BOBBY’S inside story on SCOTT SIZEMORE.
“If you are anything like me, a baseball guy, many of us dream about being able to know or come in contact
with major league baseball players. I have been so very lucky. I have had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Tiger Clubhouse during chapel day back in the 70’s with my daddy. I was able to meet the Tigers and have my picture taken sitting on the knees of RON LEFLORE & RUSTY STAUB & JOHN HILLER. I was in heaven
going from locker to locker bugging the heck out of the players. I was 10 and I was like a kid in a candy store. My life has taken me on a long journey since those days but I have always had one passion. BASEBALL. I have followed that passion and now own a Baseball Academy in Chesapeake, Virginia. That’s
right. The same place that is producing star after star straight into the Major Leagues. There’s MICHAEL
CUDDYER, DAVID WRIGHT, the UPTON BROTHERS, JUSTIN & J.J., CLAY RAPADA and now joining that select
group: SCOTT SIZEMORE. I thought that you might enjoy a little insight into the personal life of SCOTT.
The amazing thing about all of these guys is how humble and grounded they all are. They have all come to
the GRAND SLAM BATTING CAGES to work out at one point or another over the past ten years and getting
to know them has been such a treat. When I say that SCOTT comes out of the same mold I mean that he
is a tremendous person. I would let any of my cheldren hang out with these guys at any time. SCOTT is not
different. What a great baseball player he is but by far a better person.
PART II will be published tomorrow as we meet SCOTT’S father and his big brother, CRAIG.
