The first “R” stands for “RED” BOROM…As I sat reading two days ago I picked
up the phone and it’s none other than the oldest Tiger still alive on this planet
at 94 years young: RED BOROM, calling me from Dallas to announce that he
had a new subscriber for WBWF from Japan!!!!!!! OH THE PERKS OF PUBLISH-
ING OUR GREAT QUARTERLY. We now number 61 former Tigers as lifetime sub-
scribers! RED’S LAST WORDS TO ME: “I’M WORKING ON 100 BOBBY.”
The second “R” stands for RAMON SANTIAGO, who yesterday gave the Tigers
his annual Christmas gift by signing for two years @ $1.25 per year. Last year
he signed for around $750,000!! This invaluable switch hitter who wears a
mean glove and can hit for power is a steal at these numbers. WHY? The guy
loves the Tigers and wearing the english “D” and last but not least, playing for
Jim Leyland! The Tiger media should write more about this wonderful story.
The third “R” stands for the Rookie-Of-The-Year-Award which SCOTT SIZEMORE
will win in 2010. SCOTT is a regular at the GRAND SLAM batting cages owned
and operated by our son BOBBY II in Chesapeake, Virginia. DAVID WRIGHT is also
a customer of Bobby’s who says that SCOTT has the same tools and attitude
that DAVID has. WOW! Remember folks, you read it here first!
