ALL TIME TIGER’S LINEUP by ERNIE HARWELL

In March of 2008 WBWF received the following statement from ERNIE:
“IT’S AN HONOR TO BE CHOSEN BY WBWF TO INTRODUCE THE GREATEST
TIGER TEAM IN HISTORY. THANKS BOBBY FOR THE OPPORTUNITY.” Let’s
listen.
“First out of the dugout is …….CHARLES LEANARD GEHRINGER at 2B.
Hitting second and now galloping out to right field is the greatest
MLB player of all time…………..TYRUS RAYMOND COBB.
Running out to third base and hitting third is the most productive .321
hitters ever to wear the English “D”……….GEORGE CLYDE KELL.
Lumbering out to first base is the incomparable “HANKUS PANKUS” who
one year hit 58 LONG GONERS……………..HENRY BENJAMIN GREENBERG.
This next guy is nick named “THE SLAMMER” only because that’s
exactly how he hits………………………….HARRY ‘SLAMMER’ HEILMANN.
Following Harry is the skinny kid from Baltimore who is the only player
to have the RF corner named after him..,…ALBERT WILLIAM KALINE.
Doing the catching and managing today is a player that they call
“BLACK MIKE” for a reason…………………..GORDON STANLEY COCHRANE.
Hitting eighth and hustling out to short stop is one of the only SS’s
to average over .300 in Tiger history…………ALAN STUART TRAMMELL.
Walking out to the mound is the ALABAMA KID with the 110 MPH fastball
with two no-hitters to his credit………………VIRGIL “FIRE” TRUCKS.
After VIRGIL has finished five innings COCHRANE will bring in “THE PRINCE”
of all southpaws………………………………….HAROLD “HAL” NEWHOUSER.
Working in the bullpen today will be two left handed flame throwers who
make hitters actually cry……..JOHN HILLER and WILLIE HERNANDEZ.
Also, on the bench ready to pinch hit are two hall-of-fame outfielders
who absolutely crunch that ball….”GOOSE” GOSLIN & “HEINIE MANUSH.

And there you have it friends. This is Detroit baseball in all of it’s richness
and glory. No other team in history can boast of a hall-of-famer at
every position (Tram was chosen in a special WBWF election).
This is ERNIE HARWELL signing off with gratitude and love forever.”

ERNIE HARWELL was also selected as a hall-of-fame announcer. Right
after he finished announcing our all time Tiger team over 60,000 fans
jammed into the old baseball cathedral, BRIGGS STADIUM, stood in
unison and cheered their approval and thanks and pride!!!!!!!
