We visited a few other Tiger web sites today and it’s amazing
how Tiger fans can actually be calling for DAVE DOMBROWSKI’S
head. They’re screaming: “FIRE HIM”
However we disagree with a passion…lookee here:
HE TALKED PUDGE INTO JOINING THE TIGERS;
HE BROUGHT IN MAGLIO ORDONEZ;
HE DRAFTED CURTIS GRANDERSON;
HE TRADED RAMON SANTIAGO FOR CARLOS GUILLEN!
AND THEN BROUGHT SANTIAGO BACK!
HE TRADED A WASHED UP RELIEVER FOR PLACIDO POLANCO;
HE TRADED A FEW MINOR LEAGUERS FOR MIGUEL CABRERA;
HE DRAFTED RICK PORCELLO & THEN SIGNED HIM;
HE TRADED A MINOR LEAGUER FOR ARMANDO GALARAGA;
HE TRADED A PROMISING OUTFIELDER FOR EDWIN JACKSON;
HE DRAFTED RYAN PERRRY AND THEN SIGNED HIM;
HE TRADED FOR GERALD LAIRD;
HE DRAFTED ALEX AVILA AND THEN SIGNED HIM.
There’s been a few mistakes, like HUFF & WASHBURN, but, these
guys were supposed to produce, but, flopped miserably.
However, if you look at how he has molded together a Tiger team
starring, GRANDERSON, GUILLEN, ORDONEZ, CABRERA, POLANCO,
JACKSON, PORCELLO, SANTIAGO, GALARAGA, AVILA, LAIRD and
PERRY…none of whom would be Tigers if not for DAVE DOMBROWSKI.

By the way, HE ALSO SIGNED A RETIRED MANAGER FROM PITTSBURGH.
Dombrowski brought in some people that should have helped, but failed. The group of four that included Cabrera, only Cabrera panned-out.
Washburn-Huff should have worked better, but didn’t.
The Tigers shored-up their defense, but the defenders didn’t hit.
If a new pitching coach helped the Tigers pitch, then why not a new hitting coach.
Leyland is not Sparky Anderson’s ” Captain Hook “, he sticks with a pitcher too long.
I’m more of a Dombrowski fan, than Jimmy Leyland.
DICK…your observation on the pitching/hitting coach thing is exactly what we wrote a few
weeks ago…if you fire the pitching coach when the pitchers are stinking up the place then
why doesn’t that concept apply to the hitting coach?? And the hitters in 2009 REALLY stunk
up the place BIG TIME!
Jim Leyland and his “RESTING PLAYERS HABIT” is slowly sliding into our dog house. It’s
absolutely rediculous! One minute he talks about our great fans and the next minute he’s
cheating them by not running out the best possible lineup? It’s impossible to field your
best starting lineup with 1 or 2 of them sitting on the bench “RESTING”?? bobby
