Up on our Moltke, Michigan farm my Grampa Hoeft voiced the following
words straight from his alert and philisophical mind:
“Bobby” he said, “In life you’ll find three kinds of men. There’re the ones who
can learn by observation and then there’s those who learn from reading.
AND THEN THERE’S THE REST OF THEM THAT HAVE TO LEARN BY PISSIN’
ON AN ELECTRIC FENCE TO FIND OUT FOR THEMSELVES.”
And, to think those “electrical” words came from way up there in the hills
and streams of MOLTKE TWP. six miles west of Rogers City and about 265
miles north of Detroit.
HUFF AND STAUB
Has anyone else noticed the resemblance between Aubrey Huff and “Rusty” Staub,
the old 1970’s slugger for the Tigers? We noticed it almost immediately. Probably
because we were fortunate enough to get into Staub’s face a few times. Here goes:
They look alike;
They hit alike;
Both left handed;
At the time the same age;
Both “OLD SCHOOL”;
THEY CAN HIT BASEBALLS OUT OF SIGHT!
Enough said?
