Last nite (8-14-09) , thanks to Bobby Hoeft II, we attended our first game of the year down
at Comerica, AND IT WAS A “DOUZY”!
The hero was BRANDON INGE with his walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth, which
sent the big crowd home slightly delerious…but, I’m sure if you’d ask JIM LEYLAND today
what the most significant part of that game was his answer would be something like this:
“THE FABULOUS PITCHING PERFORMANCE OF JARROD WASHBURN” who went 8 shutout
innings of 3 hit ball against a good hitting KC lineup. All of the Tiger nation should be
ecstatic over this development, because we now have THE FOUR HORSEMEN leading
our charge down the home stretch…VERLANDER, JACKSON, PORCELLO AND NOW
WASHBURN. Folks that’s huge!
Against an excellent pitcher, ZACK GREINKE, CURTIS GRANDERSON hammered two
screaching linedrives to right, one for a double and one for a single.
Inning after inning the Tiger’s motto for the year continued to function: “TIGERS
THREATEN BUT DO NOT SCORE”! By the end of the year don’t be surprised if they cart
JIM LEYLAND off to the funny farm.
GERALD LAIRD’S cannon arm was once again on display as he threw out a speedy KC
runner at second.
CLETE BOYER will be happy to put this game behind as GREINKE chalked him up with
a KLU-KLUX-KLAN (3 K’s in a row!)…and then finishing his nightmare nite with a harm-
less pop up.
Lastly, we couldn’t help but notice fans shelling out $7.50 for a cup of suds! Which
means of course…$15.00 big ones for two scrimpy cups of brew. No wonder these ball
players are making millions!

Thanks for the company at the game…I think that was our 1st ever 1-0 game. Clete Boyer might get a little pissed at you for puttig his name to the KKK hat trick….Clete Thomas –just flat out over swinging. I guess he had his chance and now he gave that away to hmmmm Huff?
