When Baseball Was Fun

A FEW SUNDAY THOUGHTS

ALAN TRAMMEL:
“TRAM” will be named the next San Diego Padre’s manager. It will be a dream come
true for this lifetime WBWF subscriber.

C.C. SABATHIA:
The announcers were predicting that by the time this “tent” reaches his middle 30’s
he just might reach 300 wins. NEVER! With his present weight he won’t make it to 30.
Without a doubt he’s the fattest man in baseball.

Who’s the best hitter in MLB today? We say it’s JOE MAUER from the left side and
ALBERT PUJOLS from the right side. Agreed? Now which one in the best? Please comment and give us your opinion.

EDWIN JACKSON:
He has become the biggest horse among MLB pitchers. With his last outing of 8 IP against Baltimore he has reached a total of 147.2 IP in 22 games which gives him the
outstanding figure of 6.69 SGDE (starters going deep average)!! This is an average of
just under SEVEN INNINGS PER GAME!! Nobody else even comes close.

MARCUS THAMES:
By the end of the season he will not be wearing the English “D”.

CURTIS GRANDERSON:
Now that Curtis has become a middle-of-the-lineup type long ball hitter and RBI man, the
Tigers must come up with an on base leadoff hitter. Wouldn’t Grady Sizemore look good
leading off for the good guys?

FOUR GAME SERIES IN BOSTON:
OH MY! The Tigers offense has to come up big or at least average or this series could
really set them back. Any thoughts on how they will do? We’re hoping for a split.

ALEX AVILA:
We’ve only seen him twice, however, we say he’s the real thing. Compared to the hype
another rookie catcher in Baltimore, MATT WIETERS, received, this kid looks like he’s
flying way below the radar and enjoying every minute of it. Maybe we’ve got an all-star
catcher in the making for years to come.

ARMANDO GALARAGA:
After his last pathetic start JIM LEYLAND told the press that he was “very concerned
about what he would do”. We see that what LEYLAND is doing is starting him against
the RED SOX in Wednesday’s game?? That’s “concern”? We wonder if Armando’s car
will make it down I75 to Toledo?
